This week-long workshop is  guided by inspirational yoga teacher Barbara Powell and Bio-Dynamic organic pioneer Juaquin Lawrence Hershman. Through yogic perspective we will explore the sacred experience of connecting with Mother Earth, whether growing one's own food at home and/or establishing community gardens. Our time together each day will include hands-on experiential gardening and instructional periods based on Bio-Dynamic principles, site tours, informal walks along the beach, as well as asana/meditation gatherings twice daily...and likely some impromptu moonlit discussions along with tango and salsa excursions within San Pancho and nearby Sayulita.

Included in this workshop are all interactive periods with both teachers.

About Juaquin: Lawrence Hershman, affectionately named by his local Mexican compadres "Juaquin," has been devoted to the loving care of Mother Earth for the past four decades. In the 70's he began his studies with both Petter Dakich and Alan Chadwick, two pioneers in the field of Bio-Dynamic organic gardening, and shortly thereafter, began his journey of teaching and creating gardens based on what he learned from these two great masters. His journey has taken him throughout the US and to Europe, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico. He has taught and created organic gardens at John Denver's Windstar Community in Aspen; The Heartwood Institute in Garberville, California; Trungpa Rinpoche's Rocky Mountain Shambala Center; Boulder's Naropa Institute; Monet's Gardens in Gaudny, France; the Waldorff School on the Big Island of Hawawii; Gabriel Cousins' Tree of Life in Patagonia, Arizona; and Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown, California.

During the past two years, Juaquin, along with a conscious development company and community participants in San Pancho where this workshop is being held, donated time, labor and resources toward many local projects, and Juaquin was responsible for bringing a vibrant organic presence into the community. Among the projects under his direction were the refurbishing of the local preschool, designing and implementing a recycling children's park at the public school, erecting a chapel and designing gardens at the Senior Center, creating a civic public garden complete with a palapa for community events, and redesigning and constructing the town's entrance to the beach. He has received numerous awards for his gardens, including Best Garden from the prestigious National Landscaping Assocation, and carries a great depth of knowledge in horticulture, composting, recycling, dry-land farming.He is a yogi as well as a charismatic and engaging teacher who delights in sharing his enthusiasm and abundant experience with organic growing with his students.

About Barbara: Affectionately known as "Yoga Ma" by her students, Barbara is a yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher offering guidance through all eight limbs of the practice, including the philosophical teachings of the yogic texts, the physical postures and breath work, as well as the more metaphysical aspects of the practice leading to states of meditation and union or yoga.
