About Yoga Ma Barbara

More about Barbara Powell on Facebook!

Barbara Powell, affectionately known as Yoga Ma by her students, is a long-time yoga practitioner and teacher with a deep personal practice in the meditative arts. She was the senior instructor for many years at Tias Little's previous studio, YogaSource in Santa Fe, NM and has led and participated in numerous retreats throughout North America, Mexico, Indonesia, Costa Rica and India.

During the months of the year when she is in New Mexico, Barbara has taught at Body of Santa Fe, Yoga Source, Yoga at the Railyard, and Studio East, as well as in private resorts, colleges and corporate environments.

Barbara also conducts retreats at her off-the-grid forest cabin outside of Santa Fe, specifically designing for individuals an experience intended to complement each one's own particular moment on his or her own path, and inclusive of yoga, meditation and guided adventures along the mountain trails.

She has been leading retreats for the past seven years each winter while living on the beach in her "temple-on-wheels" in various coastal locales throughout Mexico. Her own practice, as well as her teaching, is reflective of all eight limbs of yoga and the teachings of the dharma as they relate to our present moment experience. Her style is gentle yet empowering, with a focus on encouraging students to uncover their own inner teacher.
Please send an email to: or call Barbara if you would like to sign up for upcoming retreats.
